Is Cardio Best for Weight Loss?

Cardio is a great way to exercise for overall health benefits and will support your weight loss efforts. However, to speed up weight loss and maintain the weight you have lost it’s important to do some form of resistance exercise.

Put simply; to maximize calorie burn (burn fat) you need muscle. The more muscle you have the higher your metabolism becomes. Your metabolism is the way your body processes what you consume to create fuel for the body to function. The quicker and more efficiently your body can do this the more calories your body burns at rest and during exercise. This doesn’t mean you have to hit the weights every day to look like Arnie in order to get your results! Try to include some weights as part of your gym session or try some bodyweight exercises such as press-ups, crunches, and lunges. If you’re not confident using weights in the gym why not consider classes such as Bodypump, circuits, and conditioning classes. The instructors are there to guide and advise you on techniques, suitable weights and exercise orders for safe and effective results. Remember exercise plays a big part in weight loss and maintaining a good weight but only when combined with a healthy diet.
